I started Taekwondo at the age of 25. I wanted to get fit, but the thought of me in lycra and going to the gym just didn’t do it for me !!!!
had previously trained in Muay Thai Kick Boxing and was looking for another club to join when the one in my area closed. I came across Taekwondo which appealed to me more than Muay Thai, I joined up at the Larkhall club and have never looked back since. I have now been training in Taekwondo for 12 years in which time I have achieved my 3rd Degree Black Belt, competed Nationally and Internationally, been part of the Scotland Team for 7 years and Ladies Team Captain for 6 years and am currently the Assistant Coach for the Scottish National Teams. Gained qualifications in Umpires, Referees, Instructors and I am a First Aider. As part of the TAGB prerequisite I have been vetted and insured for the purposes of running a Taekwondo club.
Before opening my own club I was the Assistant Instructor at Hamilton TAGB for 6 years with my instructor Mr Tom Wailes. Now that I am retired from competing I have taken the step of opening my own club in Uddingston. My aim of the club is develop self confidence, improve fitness and to give students a good fun environment to learn new skills. |
